Default Dakota fan clutch removal

I own a 2004 dakota and OEM fan clutch lasted 7 years replaced with after market from O'Reilleys and today it took a dump, sounds horrible. Noticed owners having trouble removing the orig fan clutch because engine spins while loosening nut. found tthat using a diesal engine piston bore wrench works perfect to kee engine from rotating to break fan clutch nut loose. NEVER BUY AN AFTER MARKET FAN CLUTCH THEY ARE JUNK. LOVE MY KOTA THOUGH.

What? are you giving advice for how to remove it? If so, you should consider being more practical with tools. Not everyone will have a diesel piston bore wrench just lying around to hold the pump pulley. I would recommend using a set of vice grips to bite the pulley hard enough to keep them from falling off, but soft enough as to not screw the pulley up. Place on side that will catch the engine stud allowing for the turning of the correct direction to loosen the nut. Then, using a set of channel locks, get the nut and turn, give it a good pull and Vola!

Or just use a strap wrench...and not put another one on...

I was supposed to ditch my clutch to do a electric fan this summer but seems like every one is getting them from my junk yard and there is never any good ones left.

your 04 should have a clutch fan and an electric fan. ditch the clutch fan... doesn't get easier than that. ohh and if you use an ac pully tool on the cluth fan pully and that works well.

just dont even use a clutch fan. if you dont stand still in traffic for a half hour youll be fine. It gets up to 110 here in omaha nebraska and I haven't had a single problem yet.
