Default Normal Oil Pressure

Hey Guys, just checking to see if I need to worry about my oil pressure.

When driving the gauge sits at the line just before the H mark. It does float up and down depending on revs.

Is it normal to run at the line just before the H mark?

first off, what engine/year/truck do you have?

and normally no, when was the last time you changed your oil? might be a clogged filter...

At 70-75 mph on the highway, mine has always been just below the high mark on the gauge. I actually made a thread a couple years ago and everyone said it was normal and where it is supposed to be.

on chrysler products ANY/ALL gauges are not real accurate. say a fuel gauge shows 1/2, this only means it has between 1/4 and 3/4 tank. been driving chrysler cars and trucks since 1965. waring if you hook up a manual oil gauge do NOT use nylon tubing, or copper tubing. they WILL FAIL. DO use steel brake tubing. note: that is what the factory uses, and for good reason.

Mine starts out just below the right hash mark when I first head out, driving at about 1500 RPM and 50 or 60 MPH. As the engine warms up the oil pressure does drop down, then it will be a little less, but still about 3/4 up on the gauge. The oil pump is engine driven so it's normal for it to fluctuate based on RPM. And just like Moe just said, Dodge gauges are not always accurate. Close, but not always exact.

This is a great topic because I've seen alot of adverse oppion and a constant.. just like I have..

Start the truck out and its slightly above the "40" mark (97 5.2L) and seems to drop down a little but seems to work fine.. but once driving awhile.. or turn off after its heated up and let the heat build up a bit.. turn it back on and the Check Gagues light willcome on and oil pressure will read 0 for a few moments then slowly creep up right above '20' mark.. and pretty much stay there no matter what RPM you are at.. (And truck then seems to run like crap.. )

Some times it will read '40' while at 70mph, sometimes it reads half way between 20-40.. sometimes it reads right above '20' and never moves at all.

Many suggested everything from replacing the sending unit (Sensor) to the oil pump, screen and tube, to the adjustments on the actual rocker arms where the oil shoots out.

BUt all in all what i can read from teh internet this seems to be a major dodge problem. as most of them at some point in their life will do something like this..
