Default Help-Tranny/Torque Converter Problem

I'm driving home from work yesterday accelerating to get on the highway and BAM engine rev's up but I am no longer accelerating or have any power getting to the wheels. So I coast onto the shoulder and stop - I shift through all the gears and none of them will engage except "Park" put it into 4x4 and shift through all the gears and nothing except "Park". The motor runs fine everything else seems alright. I'm a little lost here? Is it possible the torque converter would just stop working? As soon as I get a chance I'm going to pull the inspection cover and check for some debris. Thank you in advance for any insight you may have!
2002 Dakota SLT+, 4.6L, 45rfe auto tranny, 4x4, 220,000 miles. Changed tranny fluid every 50,000 miles (Last Change was at 205,000 Miles) give or take and this is the first major problem I've had with the truck.
