Default Four wheel drive motor and module

RE: 2001 Dodge Dakota 4X4 4.7L 91,000km
Service 4 wheel drive light came on - the swith for the four wheel drive not working and coincidently(?) headlight switch quit at the same time -have headlights but can't turn them off (to just the driving lights). Thus, when the truck is off, there is a constant binging as it thinks the headlights are on.
Question: So far they are saying I need $2,000.00 repairs just for the 4 wheel drive system - shift motor switch, shifter switch, and shifter module. and they haven't looked at the headlight switch yet. I thought it may be something to do with the switches given both went at same time and that's why the service light came on. As a sidenote I asked that they take out the command start as it has given me problems over the years. They said it is very rare for those parts to go on the Dakotas / that they see it on the Rams. I don't think that's the problem though.

Oh snap, i would replace the tccm and the shift motor, try tapping on the shift motor, know it sounds crazy but mine was goofing up and a few taps with a hammer handle and it's ok now..shift control motor which has a built in module(part of shift motor) approx250 at advance auto, tccm 90 at boneyard, you can do it yourself too, drop front driveshaft gives u access to shift motor bolts, tccm under dash beside steering column rt side, dont know bout the headlight issue could be clock timer
