ok I bought a reman EMC for my 2001 quad 4X4 dakota and was waiting for it to get here. so I drove down to the mail box and hear a bad noise coming from the front end. I crawled up under the truck and grabbed the front drive line and tried to spin it to grease the u-joint and it spun and made gut wrenching sounds. I'm wondering how to take off or out any thing to make my ride drivable as it's my only transportation. I've called a few shops and the price is threw the roof. ( OUCH) being disabled and living on a small fixed income is not helping either.

 

Ebay I think most can get for like 250 or less. 4 bolts on the axle and slip it out very easy process takes like 10 min

 

well we took my truck over to a buddy's shop and found out what's wrong with the front drive axle. the CV is slipping on the right side up next to the housing. the short axle on the housing is worn and need to be replaced. also got time to change my EMC while we where checking things out. guess it's time to call the dealership and get a price for that short axle.
