Cool What engine

dodgeramguy85

What engine was that? What you see in a V8 compared to the 2.5L may show very different results/outcomes.

The 2.5L is a vastly different engine compared to the V8 a V8 has power but most want more and more can be done to a V8 the 2.5L needs different mods to get the best from it and the aftermarket company’s don’t support the 2.5 very well if at all.

You will never get a barn burner out of the 2.5L just a very efficient running 2.5L and info for the 2.5 is cloudy at best most are just tossing things at it hoping for the best.

All I’m saying is what works for the V8 may not work for the S4 and the same applies to the S4.

Default IM kind of bummed out today

IM kind of bummed out today did a compression test yesterday and the outcome was not so good I need a valve job head R/R my test showed 105,95,105 and 100 the manual says 100 is the min. and the best zone is 120 to 150.

So I have low compression that sucks I had a feeling it may be like that.

My poor 2.5L is a sick puppy and needs a heart transplant

Question sounds interesting

How dose an engine swap work with the smog laws we have in Arizona thats the question? this is my town car.

Something I need to check out.

Then if it would all fit inside the dakota I guess if you can cram a V6 or a V8 inside the Dakota then a jeep 4.0 H.O. should fit.

That was with a 5.2 but should still compare. I still wouldn't waste the money for jet. Also on the l6 the block is pretty long so would have to make sure you could fit all your front accessories on. Why do a motor swap for just a 4.0 might as well at least go for a 5.2 if your going to do all the work

Because it would be way cool to stuff a Jeep 4.0L engine in place of the Jeep 2.5L engine. It has lots more torque than the anemic 3.9L V6. A lot of stuff would have be moved and changed, but it would be a great result.

If they can fit a 6dt in their i think the jeep 4.0 will go with no problem. The jeep has a smaller bay then our trucks.

I think the firewall has to be modded some for the 6bt to fit with clearances to move and twist. I just think going with a 4.0 wont be that much of a difference especially once you get used to it. My moms 4.0 in her grand vs my dads 4.7 in his grand is like adding nos. The 4.0s make decent torque for a 6 but not a power plant by any means.

Wink yea no 4.0 to much work

What I have in mind is buy a Dakota V6 with a beat body or a good body and take the best of both Dak's and create one Dak I will have a V6 FrankenDak ha ha I don’t need the V8 I was talking to a guy that owned a RAM truck and he was bitching a storm on how costly it was to run it. The SLT is the Dak I want I think that is what they are called would be great do they come in a V6?

It’s all up in the air

I want to run a test with soaking my 2.5 pistons with Magic Mystery oil pull the plugs and poor some down in there let them soak and see what happens they say it can free up stuck piston rings run it a day or two then run the compression test again.

I have seen a number of Dakotas in the empty lots for sale these last few months I live on the outskirts of town lots of empty lots out here and people use them to sell their autos.

Kind of fun out here

Their is power to be had. My brothers jeep 4.0 H.O turned 38.5 super swampers and 3.55 gears with no problem in 4 lo of corse.
