Default I've got the repair bug.

For the past week I've been fixing the rust on my truck. It pretty much just needs to hold me over till next summer. This week I've fixed 2 rust spots on my passenger side silver. My driver side I pounded out my dent and started to repair before the rain hit. Im also glad I took off my driver side fender flare. There was a rust hole in there and I caught it just in time! Btw sorry to all that thought my truck looked good with bedliner replacing the silver. I just stuck to silver. So far I have 65.00 in primer, mixed paint, clear, sand paper and bondo. I am by no means a body repair man so it turned out pretty good for my first time. New tool on the list pneumatic sander! Not sure where this bug came from but just one day I started to buy everything to get it done. Now a week later I got it pretty well 1/4 of the way done lol

This one I was in a hurry to get done and I should of sanded the edges more but like it said its just a hold over till summer.

Here is my crease/dent not finished yet pics later

Here is what was under my fender flare(cleaned up of coarse) Im not to worried about what it will look like since it will be covered but on the other hand my truck looks wider without my flares.

Still to do before the cold weather hits. Replace the fuel filler, tranny/transfer case fluids, axle fluid, rotate tires, grease ball joints. Lots of work hopefully it will be all done by the end of next week.

I must say that second picture you showed is a damn good improvement, much better than the job that I did on my grand prix on the wheel well.

I would just go over that area with a good wet sand to smooth it out and a good rubbing compound just to get rid of that split between the new and old paint. Put some clear coat on there and be good to go.

Overall damn nice job for someone with no experience!!

Thanks! I was mad at first because the paint was way darker than my factory color just the next day I came out and its off a little bit but its much closer than when I fist sprayed it. I wasnt prepared well enough I needed higher grits of sand paper and I couldnt go anywhere so I just said I do the best I can with what I have. I think after 2 times I pretty well got it down now. I also noticed I was using bondo from a left over can from 2 years ago and when I was all out and I used the new stuff WOW what a difference that was. It was so much nicer to lay it down.

That does look good. Wish there was a paint and body section on DF. I don't have rust, but more than enough scratches and dings. I bought new weld on panels for the back end of bed. Cheaper than beating out as damaged as they are.

Never done any of this either, but will do one panel at a time. May take several coats and sanding back down, but should have the process figured out by the time I get it all done.

Its not too bad of a job to do. Dont rush it at all or you wont be as happy. I got my other panel done just dont have a pic of it. Ill get one tomorrow.
