How do service departments clean fuel injectors?
I have three cars with over 1200k. Whenever I take them in for an oil change I am told they need to have the injectors cleaned at a cost of about $100/120. For this price I know they can’t take them all off of the engine and have then put in a solution in a vibration machine, so what is it they do? I can run something like Sea Foam through the injection system or put other “Cleaners” in the fuel, what else can be done?
Back when I worked on cars it was a three step process...
1) Throttle body - Literally use carb or similar cleaner to spray out throttle body. Possibly use brush to help remove carbon from plate and bore.
2) Intake cleaning - Something similar to sea-foam process.
3) Injector cleaning - Typical process.... Pull fuse to fuel pump, block off fuel supply line at rail (and return if available), connect injector cleaner directly to fuel rail and start vehicle. Run vehicle off injector cleaner for about five minutes.
This is overly simplified but how I always did it.

Thanks Rodslinger, can you get your kind of stuff at the typical auto supply place or only through dealers and Fix it Houses? I’ll take a look and see if it is something I want to try.
