Remove the cat, which is the hard part, then get something strong and thick. A few feet long bar of Rebar is best and smash it in, use a hammer if needed. Any bar or pipe that fit will do also.
Some will weld in a straight pipe the same size for a nice flow through.
I just cut mine off..welded in a stick of 2.5'' and called it done. I am still holding on to it however... got it sitting in my shed next to my complete exhaust setup out of a 05 mustang gt... It is technically illegal...but o'well... Federal law prohibits any modifications which eliminate or alter the function of any type of federal emmisions device. As a state inspector for the texas department of motor vehicles, all we look for is catalytic converters. As long as they still see the 2 primaries...you should be good. (if the state and or county you live in tests for emissions.)
I pulled mine and just put a piece of pipe in its place because I kept getting a CEL saying that it was bad and sure enough you could see straight through the cat because half of the combs were gone. I also got two non foulers and drilled one out to a half inch hole and screwed them on to the rear o2 sensor to fool the computer, and so far it is working like a dream, no more CEL
I pulled replace pipe and muffler on my 94 ram, when I had it apart I took a long piece of pipe and smashed up the inside of the converter, would start it up to blow out the pieces. Repeated this until all was gone, then put new muffler on.
On a side note to anyone who does it, place a bucket under the pipe when you brake it up to collect all the pieces. They contain platinum, it is recyclable and 1 cat can get your $50 or so.
When the magnaflow went poof; and was no longer working; my Cel never came on; was never activated; I actually had way way more power.. no change except increase
Was like driving a Mustang... Its a wonder what these motors can actually do with out the emissions BS..
