Need to replace the fan clutch (can't take the occasional roaring anymore)
When they are going they come on and off when ever. When you are on the gas since your rpms are higher it prob catches and just engages itself. I've only had my clutch fully engage once on my truck and it was 98 degrees I had my a/c on while I was in construction traffic.
ok its such a weird thing to determine if its bad or not. If i go to the truck when its cold and try to spin the fan it barely moves. So you would think that its working right because it does not free spin. The engine (fan I am assuming) roars for no reason really on and off but never sitting at a full stop. So one would think well if its bad it would engage and disengage all the time stopped or not but it only does it while I am on the gas. Very annoying part.....and stupid....
P.S. dodge they make something called electricity....look it up

so wait I just watched a video on electric fan replacement of the stock fan/clutch and they said the clutch only will make the fan spin when the fluid in the clutch heats up. My fan spins all the time. Is this prove that my fan clutch is in fact bad
If the fan clutch is hard to move by hand (with the engine off) the fan clutch is definitely shot. If the fan clutch stays engaged all of the time, stays engaged when you give the truck gas, or if it engages at times when it should not, it needs to be replaced. Here is a simple but informative artice on fan clutches, how they operate and how to check it for yourself:
