Question Service Intervals: What's right?

The Maintenance Logbook that came with the truck has some drastic different service intervals than the repair manual (Haynes) that I bought.

For example, the Maint Logbook notes a 15,000 mi service interval for diff fluids. The Haynes manual notes a 60,000 mi service interval. That's a pretty big difference!

I certainly don't skimp on maintenance but I'm also interested in saving time and money. This is my daily driver with some occasional off-road use.

According to the Maint Logbook, I'm due for changing the diff fluids. Hence my interest in this topic.

Anyone have any opinions on this topic in general?

I have never heard of Dif fluid changes required under 50,000 miles unless you have a racecar or a legitimate rock crawler. My vote for the 60,000 mile change..... Plus the Dodge dealership want's you to come in as much as possible to get expensive maintenance done no? haha

I thnk Ive done my diffs 3 times in the 65K on it. Once was "just 'cause" I was putting on a diff cover. So, I think 50-60K is fair. I run synthetic, but either or, people go probably the whole life of vehichles, past 75 or 100K without touching em...not smart, but they can get by. Id limit myself to no longer than 60K.

Cool. Even doubling what I was doing wouldn't be bad. I was changing every 15k!
