Default 2004 Dakota SLT (4.7L Magnum) - questions

i just recently acquired my Dakoter and am already looking to make some MINOR mods....

i have a 2004 Dakota quad cab SLT with the V8 4.7L Magnum engine and would like to get a wee bit better gas mileage, but more importantly I want the truck to sound like its humping the &#@! out of a Siberian Yeti. i am after that deep *** rumble in the exhaust, the one that sets off every car alarm down my street...(arent you glad you dont live by me? ).
so far i've been looking at just removing my stock muff and replacing it with a Flowmaster, but besides that i have no freakin clue what i'm doing or in need of...i was originally thinkin a single chamber muff but i have a feeling that will be too loud or simply wont sound right with a pretty much stock exhaust system.

another thign i was after was an open air intake (or filter). i was going to simply remove my stock air box (and plastic manifold) and replace witha K&N filter and metal manifold.

please feel free to jump in and provide your wisdom before i end up accidentally making my truck sound like a damn rice burner...

My magnaflow has a nice rumble to it, its not super loud but it gets its point across.

magnaflow huh? can you elaborate on the model and info?

money isnt an issue (at least not for the exhaust or intake, however at my local tity joint apparently it is... ) but i was hoping to get away for under a couple hundy on the exhaust. i dont want any pipes coming out the back, i just want to remove the stock muff and replace it with something better...then out the back of the muff, i was planning on putting a short 90 (or turndown) so that the noise gets good resonance from the pavement.

for the intake, i was planning on a simple open air intake....similar to how they do on rice burners. i figure that will be around a couple hundy as well.
i can weld and make the pipping myself....or a buddy can do it too (since i dont weld so good when i drink, the beads just come out all f'd up, i think something must be wrong with my welder....).

i welcome your thoughts....i'd love to know if i'm doing this all wrong, or if i'm going about it the wrong way.....

best exhaust mod for me was to get rid of the POS stock cat and replace it with a highflow from spintech.

I think spintech cat and magnflow muffler. I would also bump up to 3in pipe that will get you some more deepness. I run a stock cat and no muffler its dumped right at the end of my cab. Coarse I have a 5.2 so a 4.7 will be a little bit different.

Bumping the tubing size may actually hurt his performance, actually, most likely will. I'd stay 2.5" unless youre putting a SC on there etc.

I have a deltaflow 40 series that is ok. droning more than I'd like lately. but it basically bolted right in, and turned down like you want to do.

Intake-wise, do whatever...might was well try a PVC solution for $40, if it doesnt work, get a K&N or whatever is made to fit for $200.

thanks to all for the suggestions/information.
this is what i'm looking at getting;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/380280258387...#ht_5864wt_951

i was just going to cut off the stock muff and weld this in its place. no pipe out the back of the flowmaster, just a turndown (short 90).
anyone got any good reason why i shouldnt go with this specific muff?
