Recall question
Didn't see any info to help me in the recall section. Now that the ball joint recall has cooled down a little maybe I can get some answers.
2002 dakota 4x4 37,000 miles. In December while the truck was still under warranty they ended up basically replacing almost every front suspension component including upper and lower ball joints. After this, the recall came out, (early January I think). So, I got my notice in the mail to have them replaced. I've only put on 6,000 miles since I had all the suspension work done. My question is, how long do I have to do the recall, does this recall expire? I want to hold out as long as I can on the ball joints that I had put on in December, they are still new, then do the recall. I know I know there is a safety hazard by driving with them, I don't need that lecture.
Also,
Does anyone know if the new ball joints they will put on per the recall are any different than the ones they are taking off? And, do they do a 4 wheel alignment?

mopar4u I have a 2002 Dakota, when i received the letter from dailmer chrysler, it said I had a ten ( 10 ) year warranty on upper ball joints. My left upper ball joint has being changed twice since. I get the dealer to check the ball joints at every oil change. The letter also stated that it's the water sitting on the ball joint and cusing it to rust.
