Flipping rear leaf springs?
 

I have a 1998 dakota extended cab 2wd with the 3.9 v6 and 5 speed stick. I was wondering if i could flip in leaf springs in the back to the top of the axle and put blocks in the front to make and sit higher and to fit bigger tires underneath it.
Any info about this would help.

you just need to by a new leafspring perch. but yes it can be done, just some welding involved.

Good thing the content doesn't matter when you're trying to pad your post count.

You can get coil spacers for the front end which are an easy and safe way to lift it up.

For the rear you need to drop the leaf springs. U-bolts off, the bolt through the perch comes off, and the bolt through the shackle comes off. Slide the leaf springs back in place overtop of the axle, boom. Done. No fabrication needed. Don't listen to the idiot post above this.

If you're wanting a fairly substantial lift, get 3" coil spacers, and a 2" blocks for the rear and install them while you're doing the flip.

Hey now no need for name calling a simple disagree here would of sufficed. Thunder actually knows a lot of stuff. Everyone on here gets some stuff wrong on here(even me) from time to time and its ok were all here to learn things for the future.

lol, what did i say wrong, thats how you lift the rear. it was a over simplification but you need a new perch that sits on top of the axle. maybe you dont need a perch, but even if he bought one they are like 5 bucks. not a big deal dude.

oh and by the way, post count has nothing to do with it, i dont even pay attention to that. im here to help people with their trucks not see how many post i can get.

+2 lol im just kidding... Violence solves everything. And as far as the coil spacers being safe I would have to disagree with you on that. It is not as simple as just throwing the spacers into your coils. Any time you adjust the geomerty on your dakota you need to have the alignment tweaked. Those spacers will eat up some of your caster and throw your camber positve which can chew up tires. Ive seen them overtime become very hard and brittle. I have a set to put on mine im just procrastinating...cause thats what mechanics do... we dont like working on our own stuff... I plan on using them but changing them out every year or so... since they are $7 each...

Where are you guys finding your coil spacers for so cheap because i can find a pair for under $100?
