I have a mighty lame horn horn for my Dakota - anyone running a better one?

I looked high and low for a heat shield for my intake setup without much luck. I thought about making my own out of Plexiglas or lexon. It doesn’t appear that heat sources would be close enough to affect it but ya never know until you try it out. I make a lot of things out of Plexi; I just made a holster and mount to fit both my iPhone and MP3 player. The mount screws into the under-side of the dash and the holder/holster ends up sitting to the right of my steering wheel, under the hot/cold ****. It does exactly what I need it to do. Now If I could just figure out a solution to these useless cup holders…I smell a new topic!

I may have an intake setup for you. I got 3 sent to me a while back, and never used them. They have since gone under. Let me know if you'd be interested.

I could be interested in one of your intakes. Are they K&N? Do you have an idea of what you'd sell one for?

Throwing it out there: Any chance you need or know anyone interested a replacement black grill? I ordered a replacement grill for my 98 Dakota few months back - the first one came in cracked so, they sent me a replacement and didn't want the broken returned. I since epoxied, filled and primed the crack - can hardly tell it was cracked. It will disappear once sanded/primed again. Not looking to make money off of it - maybe put it towards a trade or sale. I'd rather have someone reuse it than just throw it away
Here's a Pic:

Let me know and THANKS!

Right-on. I’ve been playing bass since 92 – for better or worse, self-taught. I’m pretty happy with my ability on bass but I’ve always wanted to annihilate on a drum kit. Still do.

Between swap meets, guitar shows and now Craigs list, I’ve been able to wheel & deal myself into some nice equipment! I have a butter scotch/tortoise shell American Fender P-bass deluxe with active electronics, sun burst/ tortoise shell Fender Stu Hamm Urge II with active electronics before they started getting painted like Easter decorations, a white/pearloid Mexi jazz and an Epiphone Thunderbird (Thunderbird being the most uncomfortable, since my 1979 Rickenbacker 4001, yet best sounding bass that-I-have-ever-owned). My rig: Ampeg B4r solid-state 1000Watt Bi-amp head (50lbs but better than any tube amp I’ve ever played through), Ampeg SVT 410HLF classic, Ampeg SVT-15E Classic, EHX Mole (nano), Boss TU-2, Boss CE-5, Ibanez pd7, Swollen Pickle mkII Jumbo Fuzz by Way Huge Electronics.
It’s a fun setup but…y’always wanna change it up; right? I’m looking to finally play around with a Hip-Shot drop D-tuner on one of the basses, an EHX Deluxe Memory Man and a ring modulator from an undetermined/undecided effects company.
That was a really long reply, sorry about that.
Take care!

Good to know there's a few other guitarists on here... I play as well, self taught since about ~6 years ago. My electric is an Ibanez GRG series (don't remember the model #, that's how often I play it), hooked up to a Behringer gmx210. Solid 2x30 watt analog modeling amp. It has all the effects I could ever possibly want, and then some. My acoustic is an Austin... Something I don't remember what the model is lol all I know is the headstock was cracked when I got it FOR FREE and clamped it up with some gorilla glue and it's good as new. My last guitar that I acquired is a 1930 National Resonator. I don't play that one much at all, because I'm still researching it and stuff plus I'm scared to break it lol. Most of my time spent playing guitar is done on the acoustic.

EDIT: Oh yeah, that picture was no problem glad I could help. I've gotta readjust a little bit because somehow stuff got tweaked around I think and now one of the horns is right up against the grill insert.

I'm running Hella Supertones in my Subie. I'll be putting them in my Dakota soon. They have a weird but deafeningly loud tone.

Definitely a european sound, but an attention getter.

They make people jump when I chirp the alarm in parking lots.

Default Update!

I was half-kidding earlier in this thread about wanting horn sound from the movie Jeepers Creepers, assuming that it would be impossible.
Well, turns out that I must have (unknowingly) bent one of the metal mounts that came with the horns last time I was under the hood and I grazed one of the horns when I closed the hood. Didn't seem like it was anything to worry about - I bent the piece back and forgot about it. I had to lay on the horn this afternoon and, to my total surprise, I heard a pretty-close rendition of the Jeepers Creepers horn. At first I was like, "What the (cuss word)?! but then, after trying it out a couple more times, I was impressed. I don't have a video camera and I'm not sure if you can post audio but I'll try and post it next time I think to record it.
