Im looking at a 2001 dakota with a 4.7 but it has 260000km (162000 miles)on it and i was wondering how long a 4.7 can be expected to last. Thanks for the help

 

I don't know about the 4.7 but my 99 3.9 has 198,000 miles on it and it is still running strong

 

I would say it all depends on if the previous owner kept up on the maintenance. Oil changes, brakes, tranny fluid changes, tune ups, air filter. Just basic stuff...really. how clean is the engine? That can be a tell tale sighn on how it was maintained. In my opinion. Take it in and have it checked out.

 

when I was looking for a truck I couldn't find much in the 5-6000.00 dollar range with less than 300,000km range. I would think yes with at least oil changes done regularly - that you should get at least 300,000km.
