2001 BCM/CTM (timing alarm module) issues??
I have a 2001 Dakota V6 3.9L that I have been asked to look at for my mother. The drivers side head light went out high and low beams which led to them check/replace headlight, then the socket before they were stumped. When I got to it I checked the wiring all the way back to main distribution box on the drivers side of the engine compartment. No voltage on either wire leading to lamp. I compared with passenger side which of course has 12 V all the way. When I got to it, it was completly out. I was told that originally it was just the low and then intermittantly the high beam and then both went out. Always the Drivers side. I have read on this forum and others that the CTM (central timing/alarm module, which I have seen referred to as the BCM) could cause this due to there is two inputs; high and low beams and four outputs for the headlamps; high left, low left, high right, low left. This seems a logically canidate to me since it's only one side and it is on both high and low beams which kinda rules out a bad wire. I have searched the salvage yards and have not been able to locate a like module and it is looking like I will have to buy offline for about $180. Before I risk this money I would like to verify that there is not a signal or supply voltage coming out of the module for this lamp. Does anyone have the pin out for this module in a manual and would be able to tell me what wires to check coming out. I thought about the fuses and checked the ones that seemed relaviant but didn't think they would put a fuse for each side let alone each beam. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to keep her from going to the dealership who is more than happy to fix this for $500+. Thanks in advance.

Wecome to the forum..
There are two inputs to the CTM from the headlight multi- function switch. At the CTM, on connector 1 the high beam input is red/orange at pin #24 and the low beam input is purple/white at pin #11.
The headlight outputs are on connector 3, left low beam is purple/white at pin #4, left high beam is light green/brown at pin #3. Right low beam is purple/white at pin #5 and right high beam is red/orange at pin #2.
In the FAQ topics at the top of the 2nd Gen page there is a link to download a free Dodge Service Manual for the 2001 Dakota. There are a lot of links for the download, some work and some do not. If you can download it, the manual has the wiring diagrams and info on the CTM.
You might want to check with the Dodge dealer parts guys, give them the VIN and get the right part number for the CTM for the truck. There are two different CTM's, one is for base model trucks and one for trucks that came from the factory with keyless entry, power windows, locks, cruise, etc. You can use the Dodge part number to be sure you are getting the right part if you buy online.
