Default Tow Capacity?

This is a question for all of you who also have a 4.7 4dr quad-cab 4x4 like I do. What is the towing capacity of the truck? We are looking at buying a camper next spring. We'll probably end up getting a pop-up which'll be no prob to pull, but if we can find a 17 or a 19 foot pull-behind for a good price; that'll be what we get.

well I got the 4.7 Club Cab 4x4, so I'm assuming our numbers should be on the line I'm assuimg, but if you crack your driver door open its posted right on the lil white sticker with ur max pay load, weight of truck, tire pressure, VIN, etc... but it states that the 4.7 4x4 can haul just under 6000lbs or just about 3 tons.

I have the same truck and I tow a 25' Travel trailer with a quad in the bed of the truck and have no problem. Just have to lock out the overdrive. Tows strong.

What do you mean by "lock out the overdrive"?

push the overdive button on the shifter so that overdive is off when your towing. I tow a 16' camper with no problems. Todays campers are alot lighter than the yester years steel framed ones. If you do start getting into the longer ones you may consider investing into a weight distribution hitch. I don't need it with my 16' but still use it. It keeps the back end of the truck off the ground and does help some with swaying.

If you have you window sticker from the dealer it should be above the fuel rating also.
I believe with the tow package it's around 5,200 lbs (that is with the trans cooler). I tow a 24' popup that sleeps 8, the max trailor load is 3,300 lbs, dry is 2,800. I load the bed with wood and the cab has 4 adults and it pulls like a champ!

I have the same set up as you, and I tow a 21ft. boat, and I took both to the public scales, truck was empty with no load with a full tank and the boat had 1/2 tank. Together they tipped the scales at 8800 lbs. Just my 2cents.

Did you find you trucks tow rating yet?

I was just stating that the tow package with the trans cooler and the higher amp alternator has a higher tow rating than one without...
I don't think you will need it for a popup this size.

My popup has a travel length of 18'-3" it's 24' open. (03' Viking Legend 2480ST).
