Default Transmissions issue

new to this site , looking for possible help

I just picked up a 02 dakota 3.9 4x4 42re

Transmission seems to have a mind of its own
If i creap away from a traffic light its all gd , goes through all the gears
Sometimes takes a high rpm to shift and i have to get off gas for it to upshift . If i give it a little gas from a light the truck will shake violantly , seams like the trans makes a horrible rubbing noise . If i let it get into 2nd easy i can then give it gas and itll pull then bang into gear .

Changed the trans fluid as soon as bought it , lets say its was as black as motor oil and thicker than a shake in the bottom of the pan .

What could it be , trans shot? Slipping hard idk Control module , adjustments . Any help will be great

if the fluid was black that is not good but you could try some transmission additive before you take it down.

Yeah If it was black they probably never serviced the thing and I would not have bought it.
