Default Towing wires

I don't have the towing package on my 2000 Dakota sport. What will I need to do for wiring to tow a small uhaul utility trailer? I bought a hitch but I looked under the bed and found a wire coiled up with two ends on it that comes out of the wire that leads to the back lights. Will it be as simple as soldering on a plug to those wires?

I should be fine towing a trailer that weighs about 800 pounds all loaded? It's the 3.9 5 speed

There are kits that just "T" into the tail lights and gives you all the 4 circuits,

White = Ground
Green = Right turn
Yellow = Left turn
Brown = Tail lights

Quick and easy! All for $20

Would that be all I need? Just hooks into the tail light plugs?

That is all you need.
unscrew tail light lense ,connect and feed wires down to hitch area.

I used the Hoppy kit from Autozone. $20. T-taps the chassis/body interconnects on either side of your spare tire.
