Default Flare removal...

Hey guys,

Well, my rust above one of the rear wheel wells has gotten to the point where the paint is coming off, so I figure it's time to fix it soon, before I have a hole. My only question is if I take the flare off, what happens to that sticky stuff? Should that be scraped off, or can I just leave it and put the screws back in the flare once I fix the rust?

Thanks

i would remove the tape and put new tape on when installing the flares again. for a 15ft package of 1/2 in. wide 3m body molding tape at advanced is $13. this is what i am going to use on my truck after i fix the rust. also to get the old tape of try wd-40 just remember to get the surface clean before applying the tape again. also still use the screws.

Well, I just took the screws out and pulled the flares hard and they came off. Lots of rust over the rear wheels. Holes in both sides. Front isn't bad at all, just a bit of surface rust.

Get some googone and that will take it off. You can really leave it on there but wont sit as tight to the body. I had mine off of my dakota for awhile but before I sold it I put them back on. I got 3m double sided tape and put 4 pieces on about 2 in long it held it well so I left it at that

Check under your front fenders where they meet the bumper too, I've seen lots of daks rust out there as well
