99 Dakota woodpecker sound
Here goes my first post but I have used these forums to discover previous problems.
So I have 99 Dakota sport 4x4 with a 5.2 auto, and it has started making a very weird noise, only does it in neutral and drive, doesn't matter if it's in 2wd or 4x4 it still does it, but after it warms up it seems to go away in neutral but it's still there in drive, doesn't do it in reverse or park and it sounds to me like it's coming from the transmission, it sounds like a frigging woodpecker under there, and it speeds up when you accelerate, fluids are all where they should be
It doesn't seem to effect shifting or anything at all but man it sure is annoying and terrible sounding so any help would be very appreciated
I'll take a video o it here in a little bit an post it so you can hopefully help me out
Thanks
Ryan

It does tend to lurch and shift from d to r or r to d a bit clunky, but it has done that since I've owned it now and this noise hasn't seemed to effect performance in any way but I am very concerned about it
Thanks for the help though guys, I'm glad I finally decided to register to this group as I have this 99 and a 04 quad cab
