Does anyone know of a stronger transfer case that i can swap for the stock NP 231D ? I've been through 5 transfer cases in the past year. The last 3 i figured failed because of my engine swap. I've been looking all over the net trying to find one i can swap in without any trans. mods or swaps. My transfer case i have now came out of a jeep, and about 4 months ago it just quit moving. I pulled the transfer case apart and found out my high/low fork broke. So i welded the gear in high range and its been fine. But i need my 4 wheel drive to help me out when i haul hay. If anyone has any suggestions on a transfer case or a trans. transfer case combo that would work behind a 6.1 hemi and stock dakota trans. let me know. I'm outta ideals and its hurting my pocket for transfer cases.

 

when I had mine warrantied I was looking on line for parts and found a couple kits that you could upgrade the stuff in it to make it heavy duty. Ill look to see if I saved the web page

 

Some Ram 1500/2500/3500's came with NV241 transfercase. It is a step higher is HD then NV231. From what I can find is the NV241 that came behind the Magnum engines are a direct swap also must be the same transmissions auto or manual.
