Default Clutch Noise

Hello all,

I have a 2000, 4.7, 4x4 dak. It was an auto (45RFE) but I swapped to an NV3500 ~3k miles ago (107k miles on it now). It has a new clutch slave and the master I pulled out of a junkyard, the master looks to be in good shape. I was driving on the highway, I pulled over for a second then went to get back on and as I pushed in the clutch pedal to shift into second there was a loud pop/snap noise and I lost all pressure. The pedal just stayed stuck at the floor so I tried to pump it a few times and then it regained pressure and came back up. Seems to be fine now. No loss of fluid or leaks. Any ideas? I can't think of anything that might have caused these symptoms. Works fine now but I still would like to know what happened. Thanks,

NIck

Default a guess only

A guess only when you did the swap something wasn’t seated all the way in place it finally popped all the way in and you are cool.

I suggest taking a good look under at everything to be sure its all tight and nothing is lose on you.

Just keep an eye and ear out for anything diff or you may be in trouble.

No leaks at all?

hmm.. perhaps. The manual went in all too easy except for the final quarter inch, I had to use the torque of the bolts to pull it forward and completely mate the engine and transmission. That kind of left a sour taste in my mouth and I really wish I knew the pilot bearing was alright.

Does this sound plausible; the teeth on the pressure plate got 'stuck' inwards when I pushed in the clutch and did not want to return? That would explain why pumping the pedal a few times at its final range of motion allowed them to snap back... I bought a brand new clutch (plate, bearings...) from LuK. Anyone know if they make reliable parts?

Default No that dosent sound good at all

No that dosent sound good at all if it didnt go in easy and you had to force it in may mean something is wrong.

Yea that could be bad news.
