Need to add 2 dc 12v outlets
so ive run into the issue with my truck being a manual and all, my left outlet gets smacked if i have anything plugged into that one with first gear and the right outlet has my xm radio plugged in, but i need to have my gps in too. my idea is to keep the right side free for phone charger etc and to just create two new outlets under my dash to keep it clutter free.
my question is can i branch it off and splice into that right outlet, since it only comes on with key turned on? or would that be to much draw from that single circuit? or should i just come from battery, fuse it, switch it, and have it be about half a pain to run all that wire.

There is a few easy ways to do it.
You can run it off of the same power feed as your stock outlet, as long as you don't run high output devices on it like several air compressors at the same time. That is if you want the power for those outlets to turn on and off with the key.
If you want all time power then wire up a power feed from the fuse box under the dash or direct from the batter and hook up a ground, don't forget a fuse. This way you will have all time power so you can charge up you phone without the key needed ect.
You can buy the basic outlet with the holder at any autoparts stores even Walmart for $5 or so. Screw it under the dash were you want. Or drill a hole somewhere for just the body. Like this one.

You can also buy a 2 or 3 outlet splitter like this one.

What I have done is for my Suzuki where the XM radio was powered by the outlet, I bought a corded extender just like the splitter. I cut off the input and wired it into the stock outlet, then I can plug in my XM and tuck the entire setup behind the dash for a clean look.
I also added in 2 outlets into the cab of my Dakota. 1 into the center console, and 1 into the under the back seat on the box. Both clean looking and look stock. I even added 1 in the bed for easy access for air compressors ect.
Also on my vehicles I make sure there is at least 1 all time power outlet to charge a phone or something where I can lock up the truck and walk away without the keys inside (phone hidden of course).
Here is the center console piece.

thank for confirming i wont blow anything running the xm and gps off of same feed. so i suppose what ill do is splice into that right side that way they turn on with my key and i can have the left and right port free. that way everything will be under the dash.
update; bought adaptor as you had showed in the 1 picture spliced it, so i can now splice those two connectors under the dash.
now heres the issue. i have no access to the right power port from under the dash nor can i get the thing to pull out of the bezel to fish wire down. im at a stand still and have the right side power source about half mutilated. how can i get this right side power port to pop out without much more damage? i had read something about there being to 2 square clip things on the inside, i rigged up a tool to press them in and pull with no luck. am i going to have to tear my whole dash apart just to be able to tap into the dang thing?

I’m not sure but can you get at it by removing your radio I can’t remember on mine if that’s possible but you will still need to pop off the dash panel same as the one to get to the A/C controller.

i ended up having to take about 1/4 of the dash apart to reach it. id say it was worth it now that i have those 2 outlets freed up and the wiring all hidden neatly under the dash.
only issue was wiring it in, blew a fuse so switched my wires and was golden!
