C'mon Good karma I need a solution
Hey guys, heres the situation.
First off I have read tons of similar situations on this forum but none have had definite answers but possible fixes which I have tried. So here it goes.
2002 Dodge dakota sport 4x4 3.9L
226,000 miles
Engine and body in great condition for miles, regularly maintained.
Problem:
possibly two different problems.
First: when I come to a stop it feels like I get nudged from behind and it engages second gear instead of first. When you pull out and start driving it starts in second gear. Truck still drives and shifts great rest of the way.
Second: Misfiring/lack of power/ Back fire from TB/
Does not do this all the time. Will do it when its hot and been running and will also do it when its cold and just started, but id say it happens atleast once a day a week, but sometimes it will not do it for a few days. wierd right? Lack of power and shaking rough idle. mash the pedal and it barely creeps foward followed by back firing in the engine. it feel real sluggish and if yoyu mash it it sputteres and it will pop back to normal and take off after a few seconds.
Codes are usually random from p0300 p0304 p0301 mis fire codes
Changed: upstream O2 sensor, plugs, wires, cam position sensor, coolant temp sensor, cleaned out map sensor and tb.
Id appreciate any help guys
thanks

Regarding your backfire

I had the exact same problem as you described and it turns out it was the upstream O2 sensor on the driver side, I was getting only Cyl 1,3,5 misfire (all on the driver side of the engine) which means it was the o2 sensor before the cat on the driver side.
Since you're getting misfires on both sides of the engine i'm not sure... have you done a compression test?
I would try switching over the 02 sensor u had replaced to the other upstream one and see if that helps.
