Trouble Installing Jimmi Jammers
Has anyone ever installed these on their dakota? B/c I've found it almost impossible to install them on mine.
Basically, it's impossible to put them on while the door handles are in the vehicle, and you can't put them on the door handles while they're out and them put them back in.
When we took the door handles out, the jimmi jammers do seem to fit on the lock, BUT only if you put them on in a way that's impossible to do inside the door.
The only way we could get them to fit properly was to put the hole over the stud, and rotate the plate in counterclockwise, but this can't be done inside the door, as there isn't enough space to rotate the plate up enought for installation, as you just hit the end of the door.

So has anyone ever successfully installed these, and if so, how?
I did notice on another website that someone was installing these plates that looked different from mine.

Nothing to do with this question but wanted to put it out My Dakota had two attempts at breaking in the door lock by punching it in and both times they failed our older Dakotas have strong doors and locks. They dented in the door lock cover but never got in that way they should have just jimmied the door. Good thing the lock still works and both times it was the passenger side. Most cars/trucks have plastic side panels now that snap in very easy with a door lock punch.
I just wanted to put the jammers in for peace of mind, and I'm also planning on getting a kill switch (as you probably saw that topic I made a while ago).
This is just for peace of mind, after my mother's van got stolen (96 caravan), since my Dak has had a lot of work done to make it last, moog ball joints, stainless steel brake lines, tons of rustproofing, etc - I'd just hate to see it go.

If all esle fails and I can't get these things in, I may just resort to cutting them into two pices and find a way to fasten them back together once they're in the door (I payed $40 for these things, so there's no way I'm just going to throw them out and forget about it)
No, the jimmijammers aren't meant to stop slimjimming.
The JimmiJammers are meant to stop a thief from prying away the metal below the door handle (with a screwdriver) and then actuating the lock rods from inside the door.
That's the problem I'm having, there's no way to install the jimmijammer around the door handle properly - unless you hang it by the stud, with the jammer plate off to the side at an angle, and then rotate it into place. But as the door handle is right up against the end of the door, so I can't move the jammer plate off to the side enough so I can rotate it into place.
