iv posted on here before but every anwser iv got has been wrong so i thought id try again. iv got a 318 magnum that im trying to put in a 01 dakota but cant find any mounts that work with it. iv tried the 318 mounts that came out in the dakotas but where is bolts to the block is completley different then my 318 magnum. any help would be great. thanks

 

it sounds as though you need to get the mounts for the block, then make some to fit the dakota. a little welding maybe? the 318 doesnt belong in a 2001 so you need to fab it yourself. 99 or 00 was the last year for the 318. so i dont know if they changed the mounts on the frame. either way it sounds like a 'pita' with the computer and all the other electrontics involved with that swap. with all that work i would throw in a hemi!!

 

The 5.2 Magnum and the 5.9 Magnum uses the same motor mount location on the block. Just get a set of 5.9 V8 motor mounts which came on the R/Ts till 02 or 03?

 

i always forget about the R/T's. my bad. but he still will have wiring issues unless he has a R/T.

 

i know i was told that the 5.9 mounts would work but just going by the pic that they show you at autozone it dosent look like it would mount to the block right. and for wiring im putting a carb on it, i dont think you could even make that motor work in that truck since it didnt come out in it that year i know the harness from the 318s that came out in them dakotas are completly different then the one i have. iv had the 318 for years in a old farm truck which became a parts truck except for the motor and tranny which im wanting to make them fit in my dakota so doing a lil fab work aint no big deal. do yens know anyone thats used the 5.9 moounts on a 318 mag?
