Default Exhaust help needed

Greetings...
Yesterday my muffler broke off at the front and fell down, then broke off at the back and I ran over it....not fun! It almost looks like I cut the muffler off
I am now looking for a replacement...hoping to reuse the tail pipe(which is now in the bed of the truck) and the front pipe which is still solidly connected....
My questions are many...
1...If I got a slip on like a glass pack(cherry bomb, thrush, or whatever) does the pipe go into the muffler? or the other way around? I need to know when ordering the new muffler.
2...Is my stock system stainless? 2003 dakota 4wd qc. Should I get a stainless muffler? Suggestions?
3..Does anyone think this wont work? I am looking to go a bit cheap since I just put a lot into the front end. Resuse the stock pipes and replace the muffler with something else...

Thanks for any and all help

Take it to a muffler shop, save yourself the aggravation. Shouldn't cost to much to replace the muffler and reattach the tail pipe.

or get the glasspack and 2 clamps, and just clamp things together, I suppose.

Bought a Thrush glasspack at Advance. Less than $20. Had to get a small section of pipe and 3 clamps...total under $40.
My son and I got it all hooked up yesterday. Took us about 45 minutes(and that included cutting the pipe and clean up.
I always heard that the Thrush glasspack was loud. This pipe is just a tad louder than my stocker.

thanks for all the help everyone!!

It will get louder once the packing breaks down.
