Wheel Locks - Brand Suggestions & Wheel Balance?
I'm looking into getting a set of wheel locks.
Right now I'm looking at either McGard or Gorilla.
Reading a bunch of reviews, I couldn't really find any issues with McGard, other than the idiots who used an air wrench to tighten the locks with the key and broke it off.
Although, I like the design of the Gorilla Guard locks, which have a free-spinning sleeve around the key pattern so you can't just hammer a socket on the outside of the lock and turn it off. But I did find a review on an SRT4 forum for the Gorillas, apparently they're made in Taiwan and have bad chrome, and I found a review on a Camaro forum where I guy bought FOUR sets and ALL OF THEM accepted the exact same key (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55498)
The other issue is that, since I have the 5-spoke wheels with the center cap, the gorilla guards probably wouldn't fit under them anyway.
But the only concern I have is about whether using one locking lug nut per wheel could throw off the wheel balance, since the locking lugs probably don't weigh exactly the same as the stock ones.
I've read on a lot of forums that since the lug nuts are so close to the center of rotation, having one heaver lug nut won't affect things anyway.
So, if anyone has any input either on the questions above, or their own 2 cents to chip in, It'll be much appreciated.
Thanks.
