24 valve dakota
Hey everyone, Im trying to figure out if its possible to completley remove enough of the harness and computer of my '99 Ram 24 valve, to use it in my '00 Dakota quad cab. I have to room and the tools to revamp the frame and drivetrain but i do not have the knowlege of weather the system will work in another vehicle.
Am i whipping a dead horse? Or should i sell the 24 valve and buy a 12 bt?
Any help and information is greatly appreaciated!

It could be done (anything can really...) and would make a real horse of a machine but I'm not sure about the long-term success on the suspension and such given the weight increase going to the 24v. I'm running the 4bt and it's handling it well but it is a significantly lighter engine than the 6bt. I'm also looking at a solid axle front to regain 4wd sometime in the future. You would likely want to modify the firewall, given the motor's length, especially to get access to that last cylinder. I think there is one out there somewhere - a green one perhaps - that has a 6bt in it but I really thnk the 4bt is a better option. If you don't upgrade brakes and suspension and possibly even brace the frame you'll find that you can't safely use the potential of the 24v for towing and stuff. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I had planned on doubling the frame, and basically putting a 2500 suspension under it, thank you for the input, i may go with the smaller of the two... but as i said i already have the 24 valve.
