Default Dakota Brake Problems

Anyone find a permanent cure to the '02 Dakota brake problems? Appears my drivers side front caliper locked up. Truck actually caught on fire behind the tire. From the looks of it it is a common problem, so anyone with any info please let me know.

my wife's 99 had probs with brakes sticking and heating up, finally replaced both calipers, I noticed the caliper pins boots were tight on old calipers, also had to smooth (light grind) out a couple grooves that were worn on hub from disc brake pads..kept em from floating in and out

Default This may sound strange but

This may sound strange but

Replace all the flex lines a cheap fix and here is the strange answer bleed the back brakes not sure why that works but it fixes the binding front calipers all the time for me.

Do this first bleed the front calipers then drive a day then bleed the back brakes presto locking calipers fixed.

I think its some strange ABS brake thing.

Strange but works for me all the time

grooves that were worn on hub from disc brake pads
Thats a good thing to do and was part of the problem

I would agree on replacing the front flex lines. They get and crack and most will collapse under pressure.
