Unhappy sticking kickdown

I was towing my pop up home yesterday, (sunday) and this happened twice. I have an 03 with 4.7 I had the overdrive off and had the cruise set around 60. I was going up a hill and the trans kicked down to maintain speed then when crested the hill and got up to speed it stayed stuck there at about 3750 rpms. I clicked cancel on the cruise and started to slow down and so did the rpm, but it never came out of kickdown mode. I pulled off the side of the rode and came to a complete stop and then it came out. So I pulled back on the road got up to speed and cruised along for another hour when the same thing happened. I had to do the same thing to get it to stop. I drive this truck daily and have 169,000 miles and have never had any issues with this truck whatsoever. Anyone have any ideas? thought maybe sticking valve but never an issue when the overdrive is on. Any help would be appreciated.
