Default Repairing door seam rust?

I noticed this past weekend that I've got some rust forming on the bottom of the driver-side door right on the lower seam just under the door seal.

What's the best way to repair this? It's not rusted through. Looks mostly like surface rust at this point, but I want to get it taken care of ASAP.

1. Sand it- Get ALL the rust off. Don't leave anything.

2. Seal it- Use rust reformer and then paint to keep the rust away.

3. Find more spots on your truck and repeat 1 and 2.

How are the Duplicolor paints in terms of durability?

So the rust is on the inside of the door seam?

If you're not concerned about looks sand it all down and get to shiny bare metal, no rust, then prime, paint and clear for a lil extra protection. Don't worry about body filler and all that jazz if its on the inside seam.

You would be best coating it in rust protectant as well, and Duplicolor is a good brand providing you're not beating the grab out of the job after you're done.

i had the same issue but it was on all four doors :/ i bought the truck and it was just covered up so needless to say it only took a couple weeks for it to look like **** again. what i did was disconnect the wiring and took the door itself off, just a couple bolts that i unscrewed while a buddy held the door. It was really easy to work on now that it was off. i put a good chunk of plywood over two saw horses and an old rug on top so i didnt scratch it up. i pulled the door seal off the bottom and then i bought a set of wire wheel brushes. you put them in a drill just like you would a drill bit and i used that to grind the rust down. it worked well and was quick. i sanded it after and then brushed all the dust off. i wiped it down with acetone, put some plastic over the whole door and taped it off. then i sprayed it with black rust-oleum rust reformer. i let it dry and then put gray primer over it. my truck is silver and when you put the seal back on you cant even notice the color difference.
