Default Tire Sizes

My 2004 currently has 255x60x16 tires and I like the look. However I need new tires and a friend has some 225x70x16s he just took off his Durango and wants to sell very cheap. I like the way they look on his Durango but am not sure how they might ride on my Dakota.

The book calls for 245s. Am wondering if there is a down side to this?

Thanks.

Slap em on! 70 series tires are slightly taller than 60s. Won't hurt the truck.

They are just a little bit taller.

Thanks guys. I don't mind the 10 mm lower profile, What I am wondering aobut is the 30 mm width - 255 vs 225.

Just wondering if it would seem like skinny tires.

Also what kind of ride can I expect compared to what I have now?

Thanks guys.

They'll look about the same on your Dakota as they did on his Durango (quite a bit skinnier than the ones you have now). They will ride fine.

If the price is too good to pass up, try them out. If you don't like them, you can resell them. Personally, I would save up the dough for the same size you have now, or at least the factory-spec 245s.

Slapped them babies on and the differences are unnoticeable.

I painted the rims black as well.

Ride seems to be the same.

Thanks Guys.
