Possibly you may try disconnecting the battery and reset the PCM and see what happens.

Negative side on battery disconnect for about 10 minutes or longer to be sure

A simple thing to try but remember most radios lose their settings

Other than back pressure problem from a clogged cat the other thing that comes to mind is when you left off the 'gas' your simply decreasing the amount of air going in..

I wonder if your loosing fuel pressure.. Just a thought you might want to check your Fuel rail pressure.. Just a thought.

My truck did the same thing while driving. It would slow down buck and die. And on top of that it would just suck gas. I changed out the MAP sensor and it fixed the problem for me. Hope this helps you out.

Default check the usual stuff

If you have never replaced the MAP sensor being a 98 that’s a possibility never heard of bucking as something the MAP would cause though.

But if never replaced it should be done anyway at over 14 years old its time to do it.

Have you cleaned the throttle body?

Checked for cracked vacuum lines you know all the usual stuff you should check.

Just check the voltage in for the map sensor. Both running at 5 volts. So not sure what it could be. How could I clean the throttle body. Checked all the hoses all fine too.
