So tired of putting money into it! Help please!!
before had forgive me for any errors. i have my 7 week old in one hand. lol
we own a 98 dodge dakota single cab, 5 speed. the previous owner just let it sit for a while and now we own it and put it to good use.
earlier this year, it started having problems. it started bogging out and shutting off. We changed the map sensor, the o2 sensors and its still runs heavy (like a potato in the exhaust pipe) ONLY if we have a cataylic converter on it. we have gone through three now. within 2 hours of driving with a new cat, its completely burnt up. No check engine light on. we just are tired of trying to figure it out. we now think its an over fueling problem, but unsure. could the ecu be shooting wrong codes? we dont know. any advice would be great. we are trying to sell since we cant put baby in it and we have two other cars.
thanks in advance!

Ok for some reason you are running either rich or lean. Only two items that will cause this air or fuel. Duh right!? This is your trouble shooting start point.
1. air filter clean
2. no mods to air box or other obstructions,
3. plugged muffler or crease in exhaust.
Onto the fuel.
1. injectors clean? See: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2861313-post10.html
2. fuel pressure normal fuel pump ect.
I had a cat burn out on my car but it took more than two hours, but it was caused by rich condition. Long story short the PCM had the wrong flash on it. If your problems started after some sort of service this might be your problem.
I don't have much experience with Dakota but I'm sure someone will be along that can offer more help than me. I just wanted to get the ball rolling.

What size motor do you have? If having a issue with your cats ( mine has 3 ) I would look at the muffler being plugged first. Than is the entire exhaust clear of any obstructions I.E. did a piece of pipe get smash somehow and not allowing the exhaust flow out all the way.
