Default 2001 Dakota 5 Speed Shakes while switching gears

My daughters 2001 Dakota, 3.9, 5 speed shakes very bad when ever she switches gears and stalls unless she gives it a lot of gas. Once she is moving in the same gear the truck runs fine. The only issue is while switching gears. I am on my way to look at it, any suggestions that I should be looking at, mounts, u-joints? I put a new clutch in over a year ago.

If this is a manual trans it has only one possibility a bad clutch you must be saying it shudders not shakes a bad clutch will do that. A bad U-joit would be a constant problem

Well mounts that may be

Your problem may just be it needs a tuneup

bad iac or dirty when you let off the gas during a shift the throttle plate closes and the iac takes over controlling air flow so if it's bad or dirty it could cause an engine stumble or stall

+1 on dirty or bad IAC. Maybe try removing the IAC and cleaning it first, that would be one of the most simple solutions. If you need a new IAC it is not a very expensive part.

Thanks guys, I went up and drove it today. My daughter lives 100 miles from me. When I put it into gear and when I try to accelerate it starts to stumble. It seems like I need to give it alot of gas to get it to go. For some reason though it doesn't seem like the clutch but I could be wrong. I'm probably going to go back tommorrow and check the IAC. Thank you guys for your input, it ALL is very much appreciated.

Is clutch near the top when engages? Sounds like the clutch might be bad.
