2000 Sport - No heat after replacing top radiator hose

I have the front end elevated maybe 2" or 3" on the slope of the driveway. That's about the best I can do for now without putting a hydraulic underneath, and not really wanting to do that and chance ruining a jack.
I initially had the radiator cap off but it only took a miinute before the coolant began bubbling out and onto the belt below. SO i replaced the radiator cap but left the filler on top of the radiator open. The truck ran at idle for about 10 minutes before the fan kicked on (finally). Both upper and lower hoses are hot and there is some warmth to the air coming out of the heater vents. I cannot see for sure if the coolant is flowing through the radiator through the filler hole. I guess I'll let it idle for another 10 or 15 minutes.

I will indeed wash the coolant off of the belt. But gertie240, I live in Oklahoma! We don't have steep hills! Sorry, I had to LOL when I read that. I will also look for a hill or maybe borrow some ramps from somebody.

Ya, it's kind of funny. I had to think for a long time and the steepest slope I can go to is the loading dock at work 20 miles away!! Or the on and off ramps to I-40, but that probably wouldn't be the best choice.

We're about 25 miles west of OKC on Historic Rte 66.
I think Auto Zone is closer than Missouri!! Jackstands or ramps would be a good investment anyway.

Ya, I think I know what I'm doing this weekend. Being that we have no hills within 30 miles of here, I'll put jackstands under the front end, put a cake pan between the radiator cap/housing and the top of the engine, and catch the coolant that bubbles out. Get the heat going and return the coolant to the refill reservoir. Otherwise it was boiling and burning off and making quite the mess (and noise!).
