Default diff fluid checks

Just got a 04 4WD Dak 94000 miles, and wanted to check all the fluids.

Manual transmission was easy once I found my 17mm hex socket

Rear diff was even easier since surprisingly I just had to remove a rubber plug!

Front diff, I didn't do since it looks like you have to remove the whole front plate - couldn't find any plugs, there seems to be a fill hose running up to the engine compartment?
HOW DO I CHECK THE LEVEL?

Transfer case, there appears to be no drain plug on bottom, there is what looks like a level check/fill plug on the back about 1/3 the way up - seems kind of low, IS THIS WHERE YOU CHECK THE LEVEL?

Both rear diff and transfer case had a little red waxlike seal/slash mark between the unit and the plug, wonder on the significance of this? Factory?

thanks ARP

HOW DO I CHECK THE LEVEL? There should be a rubber plug in the front, too. *EDIT* Not sure about a 2004. Mine has a rubber plug.

Both rear diff and transfer case had a little red waxlike seal/slash mark between the unit and the plug, wonder on the significance of this? Factory? Probably from some quickie-lube place.

thanks ARP
Hope that helps.
