How cheap would a 02 Dakota 4 door 4x4 have to be, with an engine that overheated and is now knocking, to make it worth the effort? KBB says $6,000, engines are $1500. No idea what else is wrong. Says the freeze plug blew out and lost coolant. Gauge never told him it was getting hot.

 

6000 seems a little high for 11 year old truck that will more than likely need a new motor. If it overheated there is other things to consider. Is the heater core bad or is the radiator bad?

 

Not 6 like it is now. 6 in very good shape.

Depends on shape,miles, options. Id say no more than 3k
