Default 3.9 V6 performance mods for under $1000

I was wondering what the mods would be most worth it to increase the power in the V6. My engine is basically stock right now.

If you had $1000 to spend on mods, what would they be?

if you DONT drive on the hi way, go to a 4.1 gear. i did its great. if you change the cam . keep it about .430" lift, 268 degree duration. any more and you will lose MPG. thats the short story.

I can't alter the tire size but I can give you a nice engine bump with SCT.
