gas gauge quit working

Default gas gauge quit working

Fuel gauge says empty even though its half full.. I shut it off restart it an it'll work again for about 10 mins an drop to E again !

Idk what it could be friend of mine said fuel level sensor an ill either be dropping my tank or taking off my bed ..

It probably is the fuel level sensor. It could be sulphur deposits on the sending unit. Chevron Techron Concentrated fuel system cleaner (not the Pro Gard injector cleaner) is said to work wonders on sulphur deposits. Maybe you could try a couple of tanks of gas with Techron first before you R&R the bed and fuel pump. If it is the sending unit, you can replace it separately from the fuel pump. If it were me I would just do a whole new fuel pump anyway and be done with it, depending on the miles on the truck.

Yeah it has 94k now. 2004 4.7 Dakota. Ill try that stuff first thank you for the info jimmy

Seafoam in tank worked on mine. a third of a can per tank full. and it cleans your injectors

yeah id run some cleaners before you go throught the hassle of droppin the tank or pulling the bed!
