Default Superchips

Hey is it possible to use another person's superchip tuner on my truck? I'd like to save the money from not having to buy a brand new one.

Also by putting on a less restrictive exhaust, does the chip help even more or is that negligible.

I don't know what a less restrictive exhaust would have an effect with the tuner. I was basically running a stock exhaust setup. I used to have a dual cat-back, but then I just went back to a single out Flowmaster Super 44 muffler. I've had the tuner for about couple of years. The first day I used the tune, and I noticed a difference right away. The truck just seemed a lot more responsive. Hard to say, but with the stock tune of the truck, the gas pedal sorta just felt mushy. Its like the truck needed more pedal to get the power out. With the tune, it seemed a lot less that way. Before selling my truck, I reverted back to stock, and the difference is certainly there.

I am guessing you ran it at the performance setting. Other than the responsiveness, was it it noticeably faster? I was curious, I am probably going to change out my cat and then have a bigger side cat back system overall. That is unless my local shop can custom make me a dual exhaust line set up.

I ran a sct in my 5.2 and loved it. It was way faster. Better mpg, better shift points. It was well worth the 265.00!!

I ran the 87 Octane tune. I didn't really notice much difference between the 87 octane and the 91 performance setting. I mean its not like a blink of an eye all of a sudden running seconds faster in the quarter mile or anything like that. It did feel like it had a lot more punch during acceleration. The shifting felt better and it actually did help the mpg slightly. They also have a mileage tune on the tuner...tried it. Its less power and I actually got worse mpg because of how much power was taken out.

...I'm actually starting to miss the truck typing this because I'm just reminding myself of how good the power felt, lol. I got a little Mazda3 now...low end kinda lacks =P

If your asking if you can use their tuner while they also have their truck tuned i don't think its possible. Last one i had saved my vin# and stock tune to the programmer. It had to be reverted back to stock to use on anyone elses. I assume the super chips tuner would be the same way.

Yea, I didn't think it would be allowed on the tuner. I reverted the truck back to stock. Once the tuner reads and stores stock, its saved on it and I don't think it can be vin unlocked until the stock information is released from the tuner.
