When I first bought my 99 Dakota and I crank it the battery gauge jumps instantly to 14 volts and i've notice lately when cranking it slowly gets to 14 volts and when I came out this morning battery was dead so I changed battery and it crank but the gauge is still slowly getting to 14 volts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Mine does it too. Can't say its normal but im not concerned much over it yet. i know for a fact i have a weak battery.

I feel better but going to change battery cables in case of corrosion.
