Newish seats installed!!!!
Well here's the story and I know I shouldnt even be telling yall about this with no pics, but please bear with me becuse there is no way for me to get some due to where I work. Anyway like many Dakota owers, I was having trouble with my seat also. After countless hrs of scouring pull a part I came across a set of seats that are very well made, decent shape, and a color i can live with. The only problem is they are from a 300m! Well after many beers and brain farts, I came up with a good idea to install them and it worked! I had to grind the old brackets off that went in the car and fab some new one with 1" flat bar and 3/4" angle iron. Im pretty impressed with my job. Anyway they are comfortable and set about 1" higher than my old seats but I can live with that. I figured out the wiring on them also so I got them to move back and forth, up and down. Just didnt have time to wire them in right yet due to work. I dont think I'll be able figure out the wiring for the seat heaters but hey, cant have it all right? For 88 bucks with tax I can make do with them. Anyway, when I get back from work I'll try and take some pics and keep everyone updated.
Yeah it took a lot of welding, grinding, heating, cutting, drilling and bending. It also took a full day to install them. I still have to figure out what I'm going to do about a console. I might try and reuse the one I already have.
I had to hook up the power through a 50 amp relay. It works real good. The seat are super confortable. I found the console out of a 95 Ford Explorer. The one I had was a little too wide. The Explorer one was the right height and width. It took a little doing but it was def. worth it!
