Anyone using a radar detector?
Every city and county is out to nail you now that’s some heavy fines they slap you with to fill their pockets with its crazy now $220 to $500 a ticket is robbery in my opinion our city’s and counties have turned on use and will shake use down every chance they get kind of feels like we now live in Russia
Admitting breaking the law to an officer is a whole other subject many disagree with me on and there are fair points on both sides. IF you admit wrongdoing and still get a ticket, you are unlikely to win in court. However I argue being honest prevents most tickets in the first place or at least reduces them as my anecdotal evidence has shown without fail.

I did the same thing didnt make any diff to them I was just another pay day dont forget to pay as you leave
What I thought was crazy was the cop was scared of me because I was so cool about the whole ticket.
I dont like cops never around when you need them but always hiding around the corner with a radar gun in hand
You wouldn’t believe it but my 2.5L can reach speeds of 110 out in the Desert and she drives like a dream at those speeds she loves 95 a sweet spot for her.

Well I still think a radar detector *may* help give me a bit of a fighting chance at slowing down before getting a ticket. It should help keep me alert and more aware of my speed too. Some protection is better than none at all. I always use my cruise control whenever possible. On most sections of the interstate in Florida heading north into Georgia, it is impossible to use the cruise, at least it is that way between here and Gainesville. Up in north Florida and some parts of south Georgia, you can use cruise without having to hit the brakes and slow down every 15 seconds. Georgia also has some stretches of interstate where cruise is no problem, other parts it gets just as congested as Florida. Add the Thanksgiving traffic to it and it is even worse.
I believe the Whistler unit I am considering will do just fine and help keep me aware of what is going on. It will be easy pickings for the cops with all of the traffic on the roads next week and now I know they will be out in full force. I have not had a ticket in over 5 years and I sure don't want any tickets now or in the future. It just made me really sit up and think today when the State Patrol Trooper was on TV talking about how they will have all the extra officers out on the roads next week. Maybe a cheap radar detector will help me avoid getting popped for a speeding ticket, maybe it won't. It sure can't hurt anything. I can't afford the real expensive detectors, and even if I could afford it I would not buy it. One other reason I picked the Whistler is the blinking LED's on it that flash when it picks up a signal. If I have my stereo at a higher volume I might not hear the radar detector but I will sure see those blinking blue lights on it.

Radar detectors are still good. They dont work when you are A doing 100+ mph or B are on a open straight road for miles with no traffic around you. My dad and I use beltronics detectors. My dad uses his every single day. He travels,wv,va and md. Different locations everyday. In the 8 years he has been running one he has only ever been pulled over 1 time. As for me in the 4 years ive been driving ive never been pulled over for speeding. Usually I have about a mile to half mile range depending on the terrain.

Well I bought that Whistler radar detector at Auto Zone. After the $15.00 rebate and a $10.00 coupon I had it only cost me about $55.00. I hardwired the power cord for it to my ignition so the detector only turns on when I have the ignition on. I can say without a doubt, yes the radar detector did work and does work very well. It gave me at least a mile's worth of warning, if not a little more when it picked up cops sitting and or/hiding and clocking people with K or Ka type radar. It alerted me probably 10 or 12 times for that type of speed trap on my trip to Atlanta and back home. Each time I had plenty of time to check and adjust my speed and avoid getting a ticket. The detector really did not give many false alarms, like from electric door openers at the grocery store etc but I really did not use it near any residential or commercial areas, I just used it on the highway.
The detector also alerted me the one time I was clocked with a laser gun, but if the laser detector goes off, the cops have already clocked you anyway. Lucky for me I was doing the speed limit when that happened. There were two Georgia State Patrol cars sitting on a bridge over the interstate, clocking with laser. I guess that is a way for them to catch more speeders and write more tickets, therefore earning more money for the county. I really did not see near as many cops as I thought there would be, but there were still a good many out there, especially on Thanksgiving Day.
I will say the Whistler detector worked very well, especially for how little it cost me. The more expensive detectors probably would not have given any more advanced warning than my cheap little Whistler. I did not buy the detector to gain a license to speed, I just wanted to avoid the big-money-making speed traps they put up along I-75 and some State highways. The Whistler alerted me every time I was clocked, even though I used my cruise control to do at or just above the speed limit for just about the entire trip.
I think I will keep the Whistler and use it any time I am on a highway trip or interstate trip. You never know where the cops are hiding until it is too late. I have to go down to Tampa tomorrow so I get another chance to test it out and see how it does. I will not use it around town though, too many false alarms and too much of a chance it would get stolen.
By the way, my truck ran absolutely perfect all the way to Atlanta and back home. I got about 20.5 MPG and the only real trouble I had was the really bad crappy sections of I-75 down in South Georgia. Those were some of the bumpiest, worst roads I ever drove on. It was not as bad coming back south on I-75 though. Maybe one day they will fix the northbound side. I went about 950 miles round trip and was very happy with how well my truck ran and drove.

If you were taged that many times it just shows they are out to get paid way over Kill to snag as much $$$ as possable. In AZ they used to have 6 Freeway camera speed traps in one 5 mile stretch talk about over Kill they wanted to drain your $$$ bad then they had the sneeky camera van that they could park anywere to catch you also.
Good news we voted them off the roads so many of us complained it was put to a vote to outlaw them they can only use them on streets now
They now use unmarked cars and suv's to catch you sneaky Rats

If they didn't care about revenue they wouldn't leave the construction zone signs up for months after construction has ended nor would they double your fine when workers aren't present. They do not care about safety as evident from their complete lack of stopping people who are actually engaging in dangerous driving, such as unsafe lane changes and lack of signal use, things I see constantly and police ignore it every time. Driving 70MPH in a modern vehicle on a highway is perfectly reasonable and prudent, but the government wants their slice because they can't manage their own money and they nearly took $500+ from me that I worked my *** of for and they did not earn.
