Exclamation Rear Shackle Rusted Through

I noticed my 2000 4.7 Crew Cab starting to dip to once side. I originally though it was the front shock, so I replaced those. Helped a little bit but still had the tilt to it. It wasnt until the other day that I noticed my passenger rear leaf is not longer connected to the frame anymore. It appears that the shackle has rusted and the spring broke free and slammed into the underside of the truck bed. There is a noticeable bump in the bed from the top. Anyway, I have attached an image and I was just wondering if anyone knew what parts to order. I know it would just be easier to take it down to the dealership and have them tell me what parts but there is no fun in that.

I have downloaded the parts manual and I know I will need the shackle (52039204) dont know what else really. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Yep, mine were about to that point but luckily I noticed in time. Don't waste money at the dealer, buy some replacement shackles online (replace both, the other shackle is bound to do the same thing if you don't) and you probably want new bolts too.

I would also look into getting the bracket cleaned up and welded along were the red mark is on both sides of the bracket and on both sides those rivets dont look so good

If its anything like the one Im doing now you will need, the shackle(comes with the bushing), 2nutz and 2bolts, and the leaf spring bushing.

Tools, grinder, air chisel, and a torch. Dont be short on your prayers its kind of a PITA and youll want all the help you can get.

BTW mine was $40. + tax at the stealership. I found cheaper online but when you add in shipping it was a wash.

Wow, that's a bummer to have happen. And to save on the frustration, get a couple friends and have them help you take the whole bed off. It makes a huge difference in trying to work on that area of the truck

Taking of bed would help. And like 98DAKAZ suggested clean up that entire area and reinforce if possible. Maybe even put on some protective coating ( Por-15, Chassis Saver etc) after your done.

This happenned to mine - on both sides at the same time. I did it myself. I took the bed off to give me room to work. It's not a hard job, and I would agree to save your money and do it yourself.

Yeah that's a PITA to do. I've had to do both of mine. I did the first one on my own. then the second one I decided it was work the extra 20 bucks to have the shop here in town do it. it took them a whole 30 min. Shackles were 25 bucks a piece new from the parts store here in town. Def pull the bed if you want to do it yourself though.

Maybe you should just have a shop put new leaf springs on with the Shackles and some welding lt may work out the best price wise and time wise.

Sometimes getting everything done at one time is the best and cheapest if the work is in one area.
