Valve Spring Compressor
I am preparing to put new lifters..uh..valve lash adjusters...in my 03 Dakota 4.7. I see that there is a special tool available and have found it for around 120 bucks. Lifters are 160 for Sealed Power and then the tool for 120?? Really trying to avoid all that.
I have a standard OHC valve spring compressor. Will it work or do I HAVE to use the special tool. I saw a place online I can rent it for 15 bucks for a week plus shipping.
Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search but came up empty.
Thanks,
Dave

what are you using the valve spring compressor for I thought the lifter sits under the push rods you only need to compress the spring to remove them or to do seals to release the tension on the spring and rocker arm rotate the crankshaft until the valve is fully closed
doesnt the lifter sit under the rocker arm(no pushrods on an overhead cam engine). So the rocker would have to be removed before you can remove a lifter?
There is no way I am removing the cams just to replace lifters.
