Hey, new to the forum, I have an '03 dakota with a 4.7. Recently I have had issues with the idol. Whether in cruise control, parked, or in gear at a stop light, the motor will shoot up and down 1,000 rpm....any ideas?

 

Yeah. I have problems with my Idol too.. they always wanna run away when I kidnap them.. LOL Sorry for trolling..

Seriously though sounds like possibly your IAC is dirty and needs to be clean it might be opening more so to compensate and it open's too high because its sticking or something. Id check that first and check for any vacuum leaks.
